NEW LNG CARRIER USES BOIL-OFF GAS TO COOL CARGO

Dec 19, 2024 | Shipbuilding & ship repair news

A newly built LNG carrier, named ‘Elisa Ardea’ has been delivered to France LNG Shipping, a joint venture between NYK and Geogas LNG, from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries.

Elisa Ardea will be chartered to the EDF Group company EDF LNG Shipping on a long-term agreement (up to 20 years, including extension options) and will be engaged in LNG transportation under the ship management of Gazocean, a French ship-management company.

Elisa Ardea is 297.2m long and is propelled by dual-fuel low-speed diesel X-DF engines manufactured by WinGD. It features an advanced Turbo-Brayton refrigeration system developed by Air Liquide, which efficiently utilises surplus boil-off gas. The 174,000 m3 capacity membrane-type tank, designed by GTT, is constructed using high-performance insulating materials that reduce the vaporisation rate.
