MOL NAMES LATEST LNG CARRIER

Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) has held a naming ceremony for a newbuilding LNG carrier at the Geoje Shipyard of Hanwha Ocean in South Korea.

The vessel, named MOL Azure, was ordered by a wholly owned subsidiary of MOL and will sail under a time charter contract with TotalEnergies Gas and Power Limited (TGPL).

The vessel is 294.9m long with 174,000m3 capacity membrane type tanks. name clearly indicates that it is at the core of the MOL Group’s LNG carrier fleet, managed by MOL’s ship management subsidiary MOL LNG Ship Management. Azure means ‘blue’ and represents the MOL Group Corporate Mission statement: From the blue oceans, we sustain people’s lives and ensure a prosperous future.

The vessel is equipped with the latest MAN Energy Solutions ME-GA main engine, which offers improved fuel efficiency and is said to be more environmentally friendly than those installed on current LNG carriers.
