HD Hyundai Heavy Industries – Engine and Machinery (HHI E&M) announced that it recently signed a contract for total of 16 HiMSEN Methanol Dual fuel 8H32DF-LM engines, equipped to run on methanol fuel, with SCR packages, to be installed in four vessels being built at Tsuneishi Zhoushan Shipyard in China.

The packages were ordered by the Japanese Tsuneishi shipbuilding company, and the engines will be delivered to the shipyard sequentially from January, 2025.

In the 1st half of 2023, HHI E&M signed a supply contract for total of 75 (for 15 container vessels) next-generation eco-friendly H32C engines with Japan’s Imabari shipbuilding. As a result of these orders, the company hopes to expand its position in the Japanese market which has up to now been monopolised by competitors with a long history.

Meanwhile, HHI E&M is focusing its business on the development of future fuel engines to proactively respond to eco-friendly trends based on high technology, and expects to increase orders further for HiMSEN dual fuel engines as the demand for eco-friendly ships increases.
