Hamburg-based John T Essberger has ordered two vessels to add to the first two chemical tankers ordered in September 2024, based on an FKAB design.
The two 13,000 dwt chemical tankers are two out of the four options contracted from Rainbow Shipyard in Nantong, China, in September 2024. The DNV Ice Class 1A vessels will have stainless steel tanks and engines equipped for using methanol fuel when this is widely available. Delivery of the first of these two vessels is scheduled for April 2027.
They have an overall length of 132m, breadth of 21.8m, depth of 11.4m, and design draught of 8.5m. The service speed is 12.5 knots. These ships are classified as Ice Class 1A, meet Tier III emission standards, and are designed to be methanol fuel ready, fully complying with green emission standards.
