CHINESE YARD LAUNCHES TWO ULSTEIN-DESIGNED ELECTRIC SOVS

Sep 19, 2023 | offshore marine news

Two Ulstein-designed Service Operation Vessels (SOVs) for Shanghai Electric have been launched at the construction yard ZPMC in China.

The two vessels are of the Ulstein SX195 and SX197 design. They are the first purpose-made SOVs for Chinese offshore wind farms, and are scheduled to enter into service in 2024.

The two vessels feature the Ulstein X-Bow and X-Stern, providing an efficient and robust O&M service platform to the end customers. With batteries installed, the vessels will have a greener footprint when servicing the renewable energy segment.

Ulstein Design & Solutions was awarded the offshore wind ship design contract by ZPMC for Shanghai Electric Windpower Group in January 2022. These are the first purpose-made SOVs designed for the Chinese Offshore Wind industry.
