Provider of maritime technology solutions StormGeo has entered into a partnership with classification society Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV) to support, through the integration of digital solutions, vessels between 400gt and 5,000gt, as well as offshore vessels of 400gt and above, in meeting the latest 2025 EU MRV compliance regulations.
As part of the partnership, StormGeo’s emission reporting solutions will be integrated with BV’s VeriSTAR Green advanced emission platform. This will streamline the end-to-end process and help shipowners and operators to meet new European emissions regulations with minimal disruption to operations. Starting in January 2025, the EU MRV Regulation requires vessels under 5,000gt to report their CO2 emissions and fuel consumption while operating in EU waters.
StormGeo, with over 3,500 vessels already using its EU MRV services, will now extend its expertise to smaller vessels impacted by the new regulations.
Petter Andersen, SVP Shipping, StormGeo, said: “We are leveraging the knowledge gained from working with large fleets to support the compliance needs of smaller vessels. Our solutions are designed to streamline the compliance process, making it easier for all vessel types to meet the necessary environmental standards while optimizing operational efficiency. By partnering with Bureau Veritas and integrating StormGeo’s solutions with their VeriSTAR Green platform, we can offer these vessels the same level of expertise and solutions, enabling a seamless transition to meet the new EU MRV regulations.”
Laurent Hentges, BV VP Digital Solutions and Transformation, added: “Bureau Veritas has been focusing on helping the maritime industry adapt to evolving regulations with practical, innovative digital solutions. Through our partnership, we are connecting StormGeo’s solutions with our environmental compliance platform VeriSTAR Green to support the industry’s shift towards more sustainable operations while facilitating compliance with changing environmental standards.

The collaboration builds on successful implementations, such as Sofuoglu International Shipping, which recently adopted StormGeo solution across its fleet. By doing so, Sofuoglu became one of Turkey’s best-prepared shipping companies to fully prepare for the 2025 regulatory changes.
The partnership aims to support other operators of vessels under 5,000gt across Europe, ensuring they remain compliant with the EU MRV regulation while continuing to operate efficiently. Through this collaboration, StormGeo and BV say they are helping the maritime industry transition to more sustainable, policy-driven operations while maintaining a competitive edge.
