Brunvoll of Norway has secured a contract for azimuth propulsion systems for four newbuild vessels to be used for dredging of ports and other shallow waterways on behalf of a non-Norwegian navy.
The vessels are 86m long and will have a crew of 14. The vessels will be built at local shipyards in the customer’s home country. Brunvoll’s scope of delivery consists of four shipsets comprising two azimuth propulsion units, each 900 kW, one tunnel thruster of 600 kW, and associated control systems.
Sales Director Per Olav Løkseth said: “This contract is another proof that Brunvoll has the capability to succeed in strong international competition. Our long-term and strategic commitment to product development combined with targeted sales and marketing work gives us breakthroughs in ever new markets and segments. The contract is an important contribution to strengthening our position in the azimuth propulsion segment. Working for a new customer in a new market is extra rewarding and motivating.”
Brunvoll’s azimuth propulsion thrusters are designed for vessels with high requirements for operational reliability and minimum downtime. The units are designed with focus on hydrodynamic properties and maximum propulsion efficiency.
