Feb 4, 2022 | Ship design & naval architecture news

Swedish tanker operator Furetank has signed a contract for a further climate-friendly vessel to be designed by FKAB.

This is the ninth vessel in the Vinga series, with options for more. The ship will be built by China Merchants Jinling Shipyard, formerly known as AVIC, and delivery is planned for January 2024.

This FKAB design is an ice class 1A environmental friendly tanker, equipped with batteries and dual fuel engines for LNG operation. Capacity is 16,300 dwt on design draught and 18,000 dwt on scantling draught. The concept design is known as FKAB T24C1 and was developed by FKAB together with the owner Furetank. Basic design and detail design will be delivered through the FKAB offices in Sweden and China.
