SGMF launched the first version of its safety dispersion tool – BASiL – in 2018, for what was then the only alternative fuel available, LNG.
Since then, SGMF says the tool has become the industry standard for bunker operations. After these years of experience and a significant increase in demand, BASiL has been further developed and enhanced to provide instant live reporting, intuitive set-up and easy accessibility through an upgraded portal. SGMF has begun work on adding ammonia and methanol fuels.
As a result of these developments, and to better serve frequent users, SGMF is changing the way BASiL is offered. From 1 January 2025, BASil will be available on a subscription basis, enabling stakeholders to run either unlimited or single reports, either connected to, or not part of, a membership to SGMF.
The new pricing model will give SGMF to further develop BASiL and offer the opportunity to work more closely with ports on preparation for bunker operations. By providing the BASiL tool for free to ports, they will be able to serve the industry better in the safe use of low- and zero-carbon fuels.
