Jan 5, 2024 | Shipbuilding & ship repair news

Capital Gas Ship Management has taken delivery of the newbuilding LNG Carrier ‘Axios II’, built by Hyundai Heavy Industries, of South Korea.

With a cargo capacity of 174,000m3, the vessel is designed for high efficiency, powered by MAN ME-GA engines and equipped with the latest available technologies, including an air lubrication system, shaft generators and increased filling limits (above 99%).

The vessel is considered to represents the vanguard of the new generation of LNG carriers, and to set an industry benchmark for low environmental impact. It achieves this by employing latest technologies designed to minimise methane slip and substantially reduce CO2 emissions, making it one of the most eco-efficient additions to the global fleet.

It is the ninth of 18 vessels to be delivered to Capital Gas until 2027. The vessel has commenced a one-year time charter at a market-linked rate, which will be followed by a seven-year bareboat charter with Bonny Gas Transport, which maintains an option to extend by an additional three years.
