MITSUBISHI DELIVERS FURTHER HIGH-PRESSURE FGSS

Mitsubishi Shipbuilding, a Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Group company based in Yokohama, has delivered Fuel Gas Supply Systems (FGSS), for high-pressure dual fuel (Diesel/LNG) marine engines to Shin Kurushima Dockyard.

The FGSS ordered by Shin Kurushima Dockyard are intended for two newbuild car carrier ships, and feature an optimised cargo space layout utilising a modular design for space-saving and maintenance access, a shortened construction schedule at shipyards, and a proprietary control system that can be customised according to customer needs, contributing to both operability and safety. Mitsubishi Shipbuilding previously delivered FGSS units for two LNG-fuelled car carriers built by Shin Kurushima Dockyard between. Including those deliveries, a total number of FGSS ordered from Japanese client reaches 26 units and the delivery of seven units has been completed.

Mitsubishi Shipbuilding, as part of MHI Group’s strategic initiatives for energy transition, says it can provide FGSS units to a broad range of customers involved in the construction of LNG-fuelled vessels. By helping to reduce GHG emissions through the widespread adoption of LNG-fuelled vessels, Mitsubishi Shipbuilding, as a maritime system integrator, aims to further the decarbonisation of the marine industry.
