WALLENIUS WILHELMSEN’S EMISSIONS TARGETS VALIDATED BY SBTi

Jan 13, 2025 | Marine environment & clean shipping news

Ro-ro shipping company Wallenius Wilhelmsen regards emission reduction as an urgent matter, that cannot wait, so the company is pleased to announce that its near-term and net-zero targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

SBTi has classified the company’s GHG targets as coming within the 1.5 deg C trajectory. Wallenius Wilhelmsen says this make sit one of the very few companies in the industry that has committed to, and received validation of, near-term and net-zero 2040 target aligned with the 1.5°C trajectory. It understands that action must be taken immediately while there is still time to limit global warming to 1.5°C. The latest research from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) shows that this is still possible.

Wallenius Wilhelmsen and SBTi have published information about the targets here.
