ZERO EMISSION CSOV READY TO BEGIN SERVICE

Spanish shipbuilder Gondan reports that the naming ceremony of ‘Vestri Enabler’, a Commissioning Service Operations Vessel (CSOV), for Norwegian shipowner Edda Wind, took place in the port of El Musel in Gijón.

The vessel, designed by Salt Ship Design, a Norwegian company, has a length of 88m and a beam of 19.7m, prepared with zero emissions technology, and with a capacity to accommodate 120 people; 97 technicians and 23 crew members. The vessel’s main purpose will be to support offshore wind platforms. To perform such tasks, it is equipped with modern automated system technology, including a 3D offset offshore crane, a 30m reach offset offshore gangway,  an integrated elevator with a capacity for  26 people  and a 21m helipad. The vessel has an innovative propulsion system of cycloidal propellers driven by permanent magnet motors, and is prepared for future hydrogen (LOHC) operations in order to reduce its carbon footprint.

Following the naming, Vestri Enabler departed for the UK where it is due to begin operation.
