ClassNK has granted its Innovation Endorsement for Products and Solutions to Ship Energy Efficiency Monitoring System (SEEMS) developed by Samundra Institute of Maritime Studies.
In order to promote the spread and development of innovative technologies, ClassNK has offered Innovation Endorsement for Products and Solutions. ClassNK supports the deployment of products and services through third-party certification for equipment and software technology with innovative functions.
SEEMS is a diagnostic tool that helps in early identification of maintenance-related issues, which may be significantly contributing to the increase of fuel consumption of the main engine, such as: low thermal efficiency of main engines, hull fouling, loss of propulsive efficiency and frequent and high-angle rudder movements. At the same time, it acts as an optimisation tool that helps the operational decision-making process for choosing the preferred combination of main engine rpm and vessel trim for energy efficient voyages, with optimal CO2 emission indicator score.
