Capital Gas Ship Management has taken successful delivery of three newbuilding LNG carriers ‘Assos’, ‘Apostolos’ and ‘Aktoras’ from Hyundai Heavy Industries, South Korea.
The sister vessels with a cargo capacity of 174,000m3 and are designed for high efficiency, propelled with MAN ME-GA engines, and equipped with increased filling limits (above 99%) as well as emission-saving technologies, including an air lubrication system, and shaft generators. The vessels are said to represent the vanguard of the new generation of LNG carriers, setting an industry benchmark with their very low environmental impact. They achieve this by employing technologies designed to minimise methane slip and substantially reduce CO2 emissions, making them eco-efficient additions to the global fleet.
They are three of 18 LNG vessels to be delivered to Capital Gas between 2020 and 2027.
